The stories behind the songs
Jasmin Ahrent is an independent songwriter and producer based in Germany. She writes for people who feel deeply: the quiet ones, the outspoken ones, and anyone trying to make sense of what life leaves behind.
Her songs take different forms. “Little Wonders” finds meaning in the small moments we overlook. “Pride” speaks with defiance. “Inconvenient”, featuring Selin Veya, asks what empathy means when caring requires more than scrolling past someone else’s story.
Jasmin writes and shapes the music, working with featured vocalists and collaborators to find the voice each song needs. Her work explores identity, pressure, resilience and the expectations we inherit. The connection between her releases is the story being told, rather than a single sound.
Her forthcoming single, “Somebody’s Daughter”, follows those inherited expectations through generations of women, asking what it means to claim a life and a voice of your own.
Balancing music, parenthood and nursing studies, Jasmin draws on the ordinary moments that stay with us: a small kindness, an uncomfortable question, a decision to begin again.
